The Schloss Johannisberg Silberlack Grosses Gewachs Riesling (Silver Seal) is one of the finest dry white Rieslings in Germany. Grapes for the wine were handpicked at optimal ripeness and pressed in whole clusters. Fermentation took place in 1,200 litre old oak barrels from Schloss Johannisberg oak and lasted for a period of six weeks. The wine was then left on its fine lees for seven months, adding complexity and weight to the wine. Deep lemon yellow in colour this wine shows complex aromas of mellow apricot and quince, complemented by pear, white floral notes, a hint of smoky minerality and an elegant spiciness in the background. Concentrated on the palate, with a mouthwatering acidity and a long, clean finish.
Delicate bouquet with clear, mineral contour and notes of grapefruit, passion fruit, yellow plum, quince and watercress. On the palate tight and punchy with attractive acid titillation. In the final, long-lasting, with candied lemon and salty components in the aftertaste.
