An old vintage, with a very low dosage, that has been disgorged just prior to release: R.D. is a wine that has always been ahead of its time and embodies Madame Bollinger’s visionary spirit. The combination of the long wait during the ageing process and the immediacy of disgorgement enables the harmonious contrast between the different temporalities of R.D.

Today, Bollinger R.D. 2008 is lively and exceptionally complex, taking us on a journey outside time. Hazelnuts, with all their freshness and generosity, are the perfect ingredient to echo a wine of such splendour.

The 2007 harvest was one of the earliest for a century in Champagne, and the grapes were of an exceptional quality. The contrast between the intensity of the spicy aromas, the notes of fruit, brioche and honey, and the wine’s freshness makes for a rare tasting experience of this vibrant cuvée.

What an amazing nose this has, like the smell of a rock pool on a rocky coast, but with so many candied fruit, spicy and mushroom notes behind that. That fruit is way more expressive on the powerful and structured palate with a lime freshness and chalky minerality at the super-long bone-dry finish. Disgorged 28th May, 2021.
