Unveiling The Mastery of Time:The Bollinger R.D. 2008 Journey
In 1963, Madam Bollinger pioneered the idea of crafting Champagne from an old vintage, recently disgorged and dosed like an Extra Brut, resulting in a remarkable freshness of the wine. This is what is so bold about the approach, which offers the world an opportunity to enjoy a truly unique tasting experience. This unique cuvée was named Bollinger R.D. for
“Recently Disgorged”.
Following meticulous riddling, the lees are gently expelled into a process called disgorgement—completed less than a year before release to preserve remarkable freshness.
For the first time in its history, Bollinger R.D. 2008 was released in three separate disgorgement batches, each unveiled within a year of its final cellar preparation. This pioneering approach highlights Bollinger’s mastery in crafting a Champagne that remains vibrant and fresh, even after more than 14 years aging on the lees.
Each disgorgement offers a distinct moment of revelation—proof of the house’s precision, patience, and pursuit of excellence.
